Minutes
Members attending: Polly Favinger, Jim Kistner, Craig Ferguson, Michelle Nilsen, Laura DeRose, Bobbie Jaffe Nash, Jane Wynn
Local school budget issues remain unclear due to uncertainty at the state legislature level about next school year and available funds.
Craig F. reported that the 9th grade teachers have been working on integrating classes (english, science, social studies and sometimes math) so students see relevance in how all subjects can inter-relate. A day-long event exploring the land use at GP took place in March involving mainly 9th grade students and community members. The event was very successful this year and Craig hopes to see it happen again next year.
Addition to March 22 Site Council Minutes:
Counselors Report:
Michele Nilsen reported that this is a very busy time for counselors. Registration for fall classes begins tomorrow for Sehome students. The Spring Parent evening presentation by counselors was well received. April 5 is orientation night for 8th grade parents.
PTSA Report:
Bobbie Jaffe provided an update on PTSA. Teacher grants were approved last night. Grants included support for CD burners for the art department, funding for the student volunteer program lunch, and funds to assist in purchase of a new kiln. The general PTSA meeting is scheduled for April 19 and the garage sale will be April 23. The three high school PTSAs are considering Sehome as the site for the Umbrella Fest next year.
